In Search of Happiness

By Sonam T., Grade 8

Sonam T.

“We try finding happiness in big things, but if we truly want happiness, we should notice the things around us and be grateful to the people who are with us.”

Before writing this poem, I would like to share my purpose.

The message in this poem is that life isn’t bad, it’s our thoughts which make it so. We should enjoy our life the way we want. We have the power to change our life in any way. We try finding happiness in big things, but if we truly want happiness and are trying to find happiness, then we should notice the things around us, be grateful to the people who are with us.

There are small things in which we can find happiness, like meeting our parents and spending time with them. See how happy we will be. Never blame life. Do what you want, don't worry about the future too much. Instead, just live the present moment. Be happy and grateful for what you have.

After a prologue whose length exceeds that of my poem, here is my poem at last:

As if a blank paper has found poetry in life;

As if life has rained;

For the first time on Earth,

The happiness I had been looking for,

I found it in myself, my soul.

I got to know

How special it is to be alive.

Life,

You are my companion!

You are my love!

You are my soul,

Which cannot be separated from my body.
