Sanjay
Sanjay is in need of sponsors!
This year has been a very interesting year for Sanjay. Last year he was given the opportunity to pursue an experiential education path wherein he was apprenticing with our carpenter. He has continued to do so and has used the opportunity to improve his skills by a lot!
On a casual stroll around campus, you will find Sanjay smiling at you from inside the carpentry workshop where he will be working on some project or the other. With the first new family house completed and in need of furnishing, Sanjay has kept himself busy.
He has helped Mr. Pradeep (our carpenter) build cots, tables, shelves, etc for the new family house. Initially, Sanjay struggled with learning the skills and kept to simpler tasks like polishing, sharpening tools, etc. With time he has learnt to assemble furniture and to carve designs in it as well.
Based on his own interest, Sanjay has carved trophies for the Durbar team (which is a weekly gathering of the Community where children and staff perform based on their interest). He also has made frames for certificates and carved smaller toys for children all by himself.
Sanjay is a child who enjoys working on things with his hands. He feels a sense of accomplishment and joy whenever a task is complete and he has something tangible to hold as a result. He struggles to keep himself disciplined and focused, but that is something he consciously tries to work on. Sanjay says that one day he will become a good carpenter and make many traditional crafts for Jhamtse Gatsal and the region!
