What Jhamtse Gatsal’s Vision Means to Me

- By Pema D., Grade 11

As a child of Jhamtse Gatsal, I feel that each of us is different and has something unique to offer to the world. Every child has a different need. Some are interested in gardening; some in carpentry; some are involved in Project Earth to make us a zero-waste community; while others are very interested in responsible tourism; and some of us are more inclined towards academics.

Everyone has multiple interests and everyone is different. Every child in Jhamtse Gatsal is a seed of imagination. We are free to learn anything we want to and most of all, we have adults here who have different talents. They play a big role in motivating us to pursue our different interests. Jhamtse Gatsal accepts children for who they are, it helps them grow in the way they can grow best and at their own pace. It provides children with a platform to transform. We are taught to be kind-hearted, develop an awakened mind, and focus on building a healthy and skilled body.

I created this piece of art to share my understanding of the vision of Jhamtse Gatsal and what it means to me. I hope it gives you a window into our Garden of Love and Compassion. Thank you for making it possible.
