Meet Our Founder

Lobsang Phuntsok is a former Buddhist monk and an internationally recognized figure in the field of transformative learning, sustainable development, and social entrepreneurship, making his story and work highly relevant for educational institutions and corporations seeking to impact society positively.


 
 

In 2006, he left behind his life as a spiritual teacher, and right living coach in the US and returned to his native village in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India, to start Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community, which translates to a "Garden of Love and Compassion.” The Community is a loving home, an immersive learning environment for vulnerable children, and a beacon of sustainable living and social responsibility, brought alive by the integrated educational and lifestyle model of Educating the Heart, Mind, and Body.

Lobsang’s life and work are showcased in the Emmy Award winning documentary, Tashi and the Monk. He is a globally renowned speaker and recently spoke at TEDxKyoto. He has given keynote addresses at the United Nations during the Universal Children’s Day celebrations, the Ministry of Education in Israel, as well as diverse educational, organizational, and corporate settings within India and internationally. He has received several prestigious awards for his work, like the State Gold Medal for meritorious service by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and other recognized awards.
