We Need Land to Grow!
A vitally important opportunity has arisen for the Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community to purchase a piece of land measuring 17 acres adjacent to the current Jhamtse Gatsal campus. Jhamtse Gatsal is remotely located on a ridge top in the Lumla block of Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Due to the hilly terrain, usable land for significant development is minimal. To initiate any development related project(s), Jhamtse Gatsal would need to purchase land as near as possible to its current location, which could be best utilized for the Community’s future growth. This 17 acres of land is ideal as it is an extension of our current land.
Many villagers now see Jhamtse Gatsal as a beacon of hope. They have confidence in Jhamtse Gatsal managing the right development for the region. They see our graduates continuing their higher education at the most prestigious colleges across India. They want to see the same growth opportunities for their children in future.
The villagers now have a deeper understanding of the vision and mission of Gen Lobsang la and the Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community. This is why the villagers are keen to sell the 17 acres to Jhamtse Gatsal at a lower cost over other more lucrative buyers and offers.
The villagers see long-term growth and development by partnering with Jhamtse Gatsal. This piece of land belongs to 22 families of Kharteng Village.
Jhamtse Gatsal is a growing community with graduating children completing college programs in the next few years. As they all want to come back to the region and serve, we need to start finding adequate land to allow them to create resourceful livelihood opportunities for themselves as well as good employment opportunities for the local population.
We are collaborating with various organizations, such as Wipro Cares (the CSR wing of Wipro, Ltd.), IIT Guwahati, NABCONS (Nabard Consultancy Services), ICAR, local governmental entities, etc. These organizations are willing to support us and partner with us in our future projects. These future projects include organic agriculture and horticulture, eco-spiritual tourism, mushroom cultivation, organic soap production, Jhamtse clinic/hospital, natural cob housing, and future homes and development projects for the staff who will be serving through their lifetime at Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community. These 17 acres are an excellent site to support these endeavors, projects, enterprises and homes in alignment with Jhamtse Gatsal’s growth and regional impact.
