Dear Friend,

Life is finding its even cadence of everyday activities at Jhamtse Gatsal and everyone seems to be enjoying their near-normal existence, with some travel also slowly resuming within the region. However, anyone going off-campus still quarantines and maintains social distancing for their and everyone's safety. There is renewed appreciation on both the children's and the adults' sides for these extraordinarily mundane everyday interactions. It's fascinating what even a year of disruptive living can teach us!

So, in this (hopefully not) extraordinarily mundane newsletter, we share with you a story from one of our oldest graduates, Rinchen T., about his appeal to the elders regarding introducing technology from a young age at Jhamtse Gatsal. We also highlight here Man, a new child at Jhamtse Gatsal, who needs sponsors.

Thank you for making time to read our newsletters, for sharing them among your circles, and for supporting Jhamtse Gatsal as you are able. Our Garden of Love and Compassion thrives because of its global family of compassion gardeners. We could not do it without you! As a small token of our thanks, we pray daily for your happy, healthy, and long life.

With love, gratitude, and appreciation,

Vasudha Wanchoo

WHY DO WE NEED BETTER TECHNOLOGY AT
JHAMTSE GATSAL?

Rinchen T. and his fellow Jhamtse graduates—now college students—hope to ensure their younger siblings are better prepared when they begin their post-secondary education away from home.

I still clearly remember the night when we had to submit an assignment; it was a case study on Starbucks. It took me an entire week to finish that one project, while my friend took just one and a half hours to complete the same. I was frustrated, and I got worried. I realized that I was unskilled with the use of technology.

Man Needs Sponsors!

Man arrived at the Jhamtse Gatsal Community in March 2021.

Man is a sweet and bright child. He likes dogs. His favorite subjects are social science and math. Quickly he adapted to the Community and is very happy to be with other children his age. In class, he is very hardworking. He is very curious to learn and is attentive in the classroom. He enjoys library time because he loves reading books. During the day, when he has free time, he also likes to play football and enjoys creating things with clay.

We hope Man finds his unique and loving 'global family' of sponsors through this outreach initiative. While the support of Jhamtse Gatsal through your kindness and generosity is essential, we also want you to know that our sharing of sponsorship needs is not an obligation that you must feel compelled to fulfill. We offer these opportunities as a meaningful way to stay connected, as life and circumstances allow. Our deep sense of appreciation and connection to you goes far beyond your contribution.

I am thrilled to be in the U.S. for most of this year. I would love to virtually meet with you to share stories and news from Jhamtse Gatsal, unless you are in or around the Bay Area in California where I can also meet you in person.

Please send an email to vasudha@jhamtse.org if you are interested in meeting with me. Exciting developments in the Community have come to life thanks to your ongoing support. I would love to share these insights with you.
