July 2021

*|MC:SUBJECT|*
Dear *|IF:FNAME|**|FNAME|**|ELSE:|*Friend*|END:IF|*,

I hope our July newsletter finds you and your loved ones well. While life in the Community is reflective and slow-paced because the children are in their villages due to the pandemic-induced lockdown, it doesn't mean that learning and paying kindness forward is on pause too. Please read on to learn about what the children have been engaged in during this quiet time away from the Community.

One of our college graduates, Lobsang T., took some of his time at home to help out at the nearby government residential school. Lobsang taught English and History to middle school students.

The headteacher of the government school, Sangey D., had this to say about Lobsang T. from his time at the school, “He was quite friendly with everyone and supported the school. He would do all the work assigned to him very mindfully.”

Some of the younger staff children, who are at the Community with their families, enjoyed some quality cooking time with their teacher, Minoti. Please enjoy the short video of their culinary escapades together!

We hope you enjoy the stories in this newsletter. Your unwavering support now and always is what makes the magic at Jhamtse Gatsal possible. Please feel free to share your thoughts with us on the kind of stories you'd like to hear and please share your own Jhamtse stories with us. We would love to bring your requests alive and your stories to our staff and children at Jhamtse Gatsal as well as our global Jhamtse audience. You can send in your thoughts and stories at hello@jhamtse.org. You remain in our thoughts and prayers, and we hope you stay well.

With gratitude and sincerely yours,

Learning From Teaching

by 19 year old Jhamtse Student Lobsang T. (pictured in red shirt with students)

Seeing Jhamtse’s impact from outside of the Community was very inspiring for me. It made me realize Jhamtse’s ability to encourage people to follow the path of love and compassion. When people say good things about Jhamtse, I feel like our Community is becoming a role model for society.

Often Jhamtse Gatsal is praised because the Community takes children in and gives them a good education, free of cost. But now, the attention is on Jhamtse’s work. In our Community, we follow love and compassion, and whatever we do, we do it with kindness in our hearts. I think people gain a lot of knowledge from Jhamtse. We are seeing changes in our local societies because of Jhamtse. I believe that this circle will increase, and soon, it will spread to the whole world.

I think, one day, we can change the world.

At Jhamtse Gatsal, cooking together is a rejoicing life lesson. Our second graders, Siddharth S., Karsang D., and Barsa T., enjoy cooking with their teacher, Minoti S.

"It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings." - Ann Landers.

I am thrilled to be in the U.S. for most of this year. I would love to virtually meet with you to share stories and news from the Community.

Would you please email hello@jhamtse.org if you are interested in meeting with me? Exciting developments in the Community have come to life thanks to your ongoing support. I would love to share these insights with you.
