My Work as a Sustainability Educator

What are your hopes for the Sustainability Educator program and your work with this program?

This year I got an amazing opportunity to work as a “Sustainability Educator” with  Wipro Foundation. Through this role I’m hoping to develop a robust community outreach program which will make Jhamtse Gatsal a learning center for this region and the state. I hope to develop training programs which can be used as blueprints for any school, institution or community for implementing a sustainability framework. I wish to build and grow a network of like-minded individuals and organizations.

We already have a Paying Kindness Forward  program which encourages us to carry forward the generosity that we have received to the rest of the world in whichever form we can. For me, this opportunity to be a Sustainability Educator takes me a step closer to this vision of sharing my learning and building a better world for all sentient beings.

What do you want our supporters to know about your work?

Being one of the oldest children at Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community, I have always wanted to be a role model for my younger siblings. I am like other children of this region - a first-generation learner. I got an opportunity to complete my under-graduation and masters from Delhi. I chose to return to my region and work with Jhamtse Gatsal to share and deepen my understanding of whatever I have learned. I have always wanted to help others and to bring gain a deeper understanding about human society.

Life has been both good and challenging to me, but over time I learned that these challenges have pushed me to realize the purpose of my existence. I believe that the purpose of our existence is not just to play the role of a doctor, an engineer or a daughter, but I think our purpose is to self-evolve, to continuously reflect and improve upon the older versions of ourselves. Via this opportunity of being a Sustainability Educator, I hope I will be able to create a better version of myself.

At last, I would like to request our well-wishers and supporters to keep sharing their wisdom with each other so that we can work towards the betterment of all sentient beings. Sometimes we are unable to realize the impact we have on other’s lives. In these moments it is important to remember that your kindness is one of the most beautiful things in the world. As you read my story, I hope you see that you have changed my life. I want to let you all know that wherever I am today, it is all because of the wonderful Jhamtse family and all supporters of our Community.

Support Maling and other Jhamtse leaders through the Paying Kindness Forward Fund.
