Dear Friend,
Greetings from Jhamtse Gatsal Children's Community! We hope you are well.
With great pleasure and joy, we share with you that THE CHILDREN ARE BACK at Jhamtse Gatsal as of September 22, 2021! They are safe and healthy. All of them tested negative in the rapid antigen test that we administered as a safety precaution. One week of their quarantine has gone by uneventfully, and we hope the second week will be the same. The older siblings are taking care of the younger ones, and life is finding its joyful routine and rhythm at Jhamtse Gatsal.
Classes have resumed for high schoolers and will start for the other grades by October 11, 2021. Everyone feels a deep sense of relief and gratitude to be together again. This mandated closure is the most extended time that the children have been away from Community. It was most worrisome for the community elders, especially their Amalas (house mothers). Now that the children are back, it's like a booster shot of life has been injected into the Community!
Thank you for making time to read our newsletters. We are happy to have you among our family of global compassion gardeners. We hope you stay healthy and happy. We pray for your long life and well-being.
With gratitude and appreciation,
Vasudha Wanchoo

Stepping Over the Threshold to University

We are happy to share a blog post by one of our newest college-goers, Dorjee W. He is settling in well at college and finding his place in his new surroundings. It is endearing for us to share his thoughts and reflections on college life with you. This nurturance of young Jhamtse ambassadors, who will hopefully make wherever they live a kinder and gentler space for everyone around them, is the kind of impact that YOU enable.

After passing Grade 12, I always wanted to go to college and experience the world outside Jhamtse Gatsal. Hanging out with different people, exchanging ideas, and experiencing something new were my biggest desires.
|
|
A day before arriving at the college [August 2021], so many thoughts were running through my mind. My biggest challenge was making healthy and convivial relations with my college mates. I caught a flight and reached Bangalore. One of our architectural advisors in Bangalore, Nikita, and her friend Shoriya, picked us up and dropped us off at the university.

We welcomed Prem to the Community in April. Prem is delightful, energetic, and physically fit. He enjoys acrobatics and yoga. During his free time, Prem enjoys walking and playing in nature. He smiles and enjoys talking to all the Community members. He loves writing and reading books.
|
|
We hope Prem finds his unique and loving 'global family' of sponsors through this outreach initiative. While the support of Jhamtse Gatsal through your kindness and generosity is essential, we also want you to know that our sharing of sponsorship needs is not an obligation that you must feel compelled to fulfill. We offer these opportunities as a meaningful way to stay connected, as life and circumstances allow. Our deep sense of appreciation and connection to you goes far beyond your contribution.

I am thrilled to be in the U.S. for most of this year. I would love to virtually meet with you to share stories and news from Jhamtse Gatsal, unless you are in or around the Bay Area in California where I can also meet you in person.
Please send an email to vasudha@jhamtse.org if you are interested in meeting with me. Exciting developments in the Community have come to life thanks to your ongoing support. I would love to share these insights with you.
